Work on van has been done

The work on my van has now been done though it did take 2 days so had to sleep on the forecourt for a night I did not mind doing that but i wish they would have phoned me to tell me that the van had not been touched on the day it was booked in. I then could have made arrangements for a night in a B&B a nice shower would have been so welcome or a good soak in a bath now that's something I haven't done in years. I do find it stressful when it comes to MOT time I think most People do and the thought of throwing more money to keep your vehicle on the road hurts us all a bit.
I have a question for any motorhome owners out there is it normal for a motorhome to have 2 different size tyres on I have 70/215 on the front and 70/225 on the rear the garage said we will just put the wider ones on the front for you what i cannot understand is why this was not picked up at the last two Mots they did on my van. Also, why has the tyre only just started to rub on another part of the van has anybody suffered the same type of problem if so what was your cure.
I always try to make sure the weight in the van is evenly distributed so I'm reasonably confident that this is not the issue
The cost of repair was £20.00 for the sheet metal, with the vat and labour the total bill was £300.00
Would it be better for me to get new tyres all around the ones on have only covered roughly 12 thousand miles so no real wear on them?
While i,m waffling on I have also found some damp at the back of the van it is one panel in one of the lower cupboards.I will look at this when the weather gets a little warmer  for a van that now eighteen years old I think you should expect some damp.

Glad the Mots Over Now What ?

Well, I for one am glad the Mots over with It failed on ( sub frame corroded near side front, exhaust not adequately supported and a tyre fouling on the rear shocker) .This will be put right in the coming week I can now decide or at least think about what I want to do for the rest of the year.
Over the last few years I have travelled back to Cheshire for a few weeks before going up into Scotland for a few months This Year, however, I don't feel I want to go down that route this year.
So do I stay down south and travel along the coastline from let's say Bristol-Weston super mare down to Penzance then up the other side Bournemouth, Eastbourne, Dover to Margate.
From there how do i get across the River Thames to get to Southend On Sea is going to Dartford the only way if so I'm not really in favour of doing that. Or should I drive up to the Midlands and then over to the east coastline say, Luton, Cambridge and Ely to Boston Skegness making my way to  Seahouse,s Bamburgh, Alnwick, and Berwick-Upon-Tweed. All of which are wonderful places to visit, finding stopovers around these areas however, is another story I know of a few close enough to Berwick to allow a good few weeks in the area.
Staying put does have a good few anvantages the main one is saving at least a £1000 on fuel
As ever the plan is no plan What would you do?

MOT Time

I have my MOT coming up this month fingers crossed that things will be OK I, have checked things like lights tyres handbrake and had a look underneath things look OK only time will tell. After all the van is eighteen years old now I do have all the service history and all receipts for any work carried out on the van over the years so overall reasonably confident shes in good order. The last two Mot,s since my ownership had no advisers attached which was great as the only layout was the MOT its self if all goes well I might treat the van to a full service including heater plugs, oil, and filter, cooling system charging system.
In all honesty, i have not put that many miles on the clock as most of you that follow my blog will know I like to stay long-term in the places I visit and like. I really don't see the point in running up and down the country like a chicken with no head, travelling is like a good whiskey the more you Savior it the more you appreciate it. The weather down south this year in comparison to last year has been diabolical so not sure what I will be doing or where I will be going yet. As usual, the plan is no plan and that's just how I like my life. At the time of writing, this am on Bodmin moor sat in the van with something like forty miles an hour winds knocking the hell out of me.
I have now spent the last five days on and around the moors and really enjoyed the peace and solitude that you can experience being on such a large expanse of land it also gives me a great feeling of freedom and fulfilment. This life style is most definitely not suited to everybody and i would say to you if you are thinking of living the van life get some real experience in by staying in a van/motorhome full time close to where you live.I my self did this for fourteen months in total and did not cut any corners i only went to the house when i needed to start finalise things and do research on the computer everything else was done in the van and i mean everything.
This allowed me to get the feeling of living in such a minimal space and work out how to utilise the  storage also so the what ifs? what if that doesn't suit me can i change It can i move it can i get rid of it and what do i replace it with. All of this can add up to a big headache or put you off before you even start.
You must be able to cope with solitude,i love loneliness and cope very well with it can you? the adventure of the nomadic life and living simply without all the must have items around you is a adventure within its self.
A new life style can be just around the corner if you are brave enough to go for it.
