Very Scary Incident.

Hi all  I had a very scary incident this week while taking a walk  I had the need to walk down the busy A39 only for a short distance maybe 1/4 of a mile.
sticking to the highway code rule of facing the oncoming traffic  I saw a car travelling towards me and placed myself close to the hedgerow .I looking at the oncoming car and noted it come off the centre line and moving over closer to the curb not being able to go anywhere I pushed myself into the hedgerow .
unfortunately the cars wing mirror hit my elbow hard  the driver carried on and never came back to see what had happened.
I was in shock a little to say the least but not really in a lot of pain other than a big lump and my elbow and a small graze from contact with the wing mirror.
A lady travelling in the other direction did not see the incident but was aware something was wrong and travelled another mile to turn around and see if I was OK Picking me up and taking me back to my van.
My friends from one of the village’s where I was heading for came and picked me up making sure that i was OK  taking back to there house we phoned the police to report the incident  and going down to the station to fill in a report taking along with me the cover from the wing mirror that I picked up off the road.

fixed the gas pipe in place now.

Hi all spent most of the day today underneath the van routing the gas pipe for the fire that is in its place, for safety I fed the gas pipe though some PVC piping and then fixed it to the floor with the correct brackets.
The next thing I want to do is make some sort of surround  and plinth which will help hide the fixing brackets and finish the job of nicely.

Cut my fire in half.

Hi all been doing a little bit more work on the van or should I say in the van.
This time I have been cutting the Providence  gas fire in half that the one I paid £300 for a few months ago I knew that I was going to do this before I got the fire.
When the fire arrived I had no other option because of the size of the fire if you have been following my blog you know that I took one of the benches out in order to make a little living room with a chair and table. Leaving the fire full size would not allow me to do this I could of got round this by getting a smaller Valour gas fire but there not the best looking things.
I priced having the fire cut by a black-smith which I was quoted £300 inc Vat, but being me and not able to sit still for long thought i would have ago myself.
Having made and sold a few log burners made from old gas bottles in the past the work is not a problem, however not having any tools other than a junior hacksaw might be.
Not wanting to go and buy more tools  due lack of storage I decided to cut it with a junior hacksaw
no joke I cut the whole job with just the hacksaw and when I needed too, taking the blade out of the holder and just use the blade itself.  It was hard work cutting the thin side panels but cutting the top and the base was not that hard took me two days to do but well worth the effort.
The end result will be well worth the hard work and make my life a little better.

Just Having a whinge today

Hi all just having a whinge today, sorry for not doing much of anything at the moment just going through a is it all worth it thing  its nothing to do with the van life its to do with the time and effort am putting into this blog and others. Along with the hobby ( making the guitars ) its not really giving me any time to pursue my other interest like photography, fishing, walking,.
I some times feel I must keep doing you tube and the blogs but to be honest with you this blog has only attracted 11 followers yet it has had nearly 15,000 views worldwide and my you tube has 455 followers and 123,000 which is good working off grid can be very restricted at time IE battery power and wifi connection along with the massive up load times of some videos not only is it time consuming its also very frustrating for me,knowing that i am not giving it all the attention it needs and deserves.
I need to find another selling outlet for my guitars not wanting to use EBay and the likes I,am in the process at building a web shop for selling my cigar box guitars along with a blog just for SBBG.UK .
some where along the line something has to give but which well thats my whinge over with for now comments are welcome.
