Hi all they say time fly,s when your having fun and it most certainly does the 7th Aug 2016 is the end of my first year of being house less.
In total is have spent 790 night's of continuous sleeping in a van with over 365 night's of that sleeping around a small radius of the house I used to own .
This was really to do research on the viability of living on the road doing this allowed me to figure out the space i deemed necessary for me to feel comfortable in.
Also the layout of the vehicle the head room, do I want a fixed bed, type of cooker amount of storage what form of heating would be suitable and safe .
And most importantly work out some form of costing for life on the road gas usage for cooking and heating best way to power your lighting and equipment , I did not and still do not use any solar panels this may change in the future I did a test on running the fridge continually a 7 kg bottle only lasted 13 days so would it be more cost effective buying food on a daily basis.
Heating the water for a shower every day or every other day would this be more cost effective than say going on a campsite for one night a week or visiting a swimming pool can you cope with a rag on a stick wash every day
The amount of miles you cover will govern your fuel costs along with the type of vehicle you have. I did an estimated costing and I now have a actual first full year costing which I will share with you. This costing covers all fuel used and any fuel remaining all gas used and any remaining All food , all household goods ,laundry service, mot, maintenance tax insurance! it will not include any comfort items like A TV ,radio, computer, cameras and the like. And will not include one off purchase,s like mattress, curtains, bedding. Eating out and drinking are personal so not included in the actual costing .
Now i have a full years costing i have an average to work to.
So as promised here is the cost of my first year of being house less and living in the van.
